What's up for your weekend?

Hi friends,

Well, just one more day of work before the weekend.  I'm sure that fact makes most of you out there very happy.  Since I no longer hold down a job, every day is about the same to me.  I hope it's not as hot and humid over the weekend, but time will tell, now won't it?

I hope to do spend some time proof reading my manuscript.  I'd really like to get that task done.  It's not the easiest thing to do, but it needs to be done, so I'll get to it.  I'd also like to work on my embroidery a few times over the weekend.  I generally work on it a little each day.  The bedspread I'm making for myself is coming along; not as fast as I'd like, but that's okay.  I now have seventeen of the thirty squares permanently attached to the spread.  I'm blanket stitching around all four sides of each square.  I probably won't use it until next summer. The thing I don't like about working on it now, is that it's so large, that I have a hard time doing the needlework.  There's so much cloth to work around and it gets a bit hot laying on my lap.  I'll post a photograph of it after it's complete.

My sister is still visiting and I'm helping her with patterns and some dish towels.  She really caught on fast and she seems to be enjoying the embroidery work.  I'm glad for her, as she lives alone and it will help keep her busy over the long winter months.  I'm so enjoying the time we have to spend together.  I will miss her when she returns back to North Carolina.

How's your creativity flowing?  I do hope that you are creating something for yourself, whether it's painting, drawing, gardening, sewing, cooking, woodworking, etc.  There are just so many things that one can do that classifies as creative.  Just try something, you may just realize you love it.  It certainly helps to make one feel self confident and we all need to feel that way.

Well, whatever you do this weekend, have fun, stay cool and be safe.

Are you Monday Moody or Monday Magic?

Hi all,

I was just wandering how your Monday was going?  Are you in a good mood or have you had a bad day.  Although I no longer work outside my home, I do remember how it was when I did.  Monday's were always the most hectic day of the week.  The only good part of that was that they passed very quickly.  So, I'll ask again, "How is your Monday going?"

If your answer is of the negative response, then I will say to you the following, "It's almost over, so relax and try to get a good nights sleep."

I didn't get to work on my proof reading today, because my Sister, Carol, came in to spend time with me.  She lives in North Carolina and is here in PA visiting.  She's staying with our Brother, Greg and his wife, but she comes in to see me two or three times during the week.  About two weeks ago I taught her how to do hand embroidery.  She caught on quite quickly, even though she says she's not crafty.  She's done cross stitch for years now and she does beautiful work.  So my question to her was,  "Why wouldn't you be able to do hand embroidery, when you do cross stitch?"  I'm helping her to make some Christmas gifts for her family members.  Money is tight for her but she still wants to have something to give to all of them.  I hope they appreciate all the hard work she's been doing to create something fun and pretty for them.

I'm still working on my bedspread.  I now have thirteen squares onto the base, permanently, and seven more attached but not blanket stitched around the edges.  When I finish those seven, I will still have two rows of five each more to do.  It's a little unhandy when I'm trying to hand stitch the squares to the base because it's in a queen size spread.  Oh well, I'm sure I will love it when I finally complete it.  I'm not in any hurry.  In the meantime, I'm working on some towels for Christmas gifts and I'm even going to do a couple for myself.  Here's the one I just finished.

That one took me forever because of all the small details in it, but I like way it turned out.

Can you believe that it's almost the end of July?  August is just around the corner and it's coming fast.  It won't be long before the schools will be back in session once again.  It has been a bit of a hot and humid summer, at least at times.  I'm not complaining, just making a statement.  Although I will say that I am ready for a little cooler weather, say low 70's for a high during the day and perhaps it going down into the upper 50's over night.  That's my kind of weather!  How about you?

I hope that I can get back onto my proof reading again tomorrow.  I haven't decided exactly when I'm going to send it to the printers, perhaps not until the end of September.  I will give some copies as Christmas gifts, at least to my daughters.

Enjoy how ever much time you still have left of your Monday.  Be safe and give thanks always.

Today is Throw Back Thursday!

Hi all,

Have you ever heard of "Throw Back Thursday"?  Well, if not, it's simply a good day to remind all your friends and family of something that happened many years ago.

Here's one from me:  Does anyone out there remember the terrible snow storm we had back in January of 1996, here in the York County Area of Pennsylvania?  I remember it so very well.  I suppose that for me, it's a day I will always remember because on that day, my beloved Mom needed to be taken to a hospital because she was very ill.  My parents lived in a development called Kendale, and the ambulance couldn't get into the area because of the deep snow covered roads.  So, they called the local fire company and they sent a hook and ladder truck out to the development.  The firemen wrapped my Mom in warm blankets on a stretcher and hooked her fast onto the top of the ladders.  They then took her out of the development to meet the waiting ambulance, who then took her to the York Hospital.  She was later diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and past away in October of that year.

Now on a happier note, I remember the date of September 17, 1968, because it's the day my oldest daughter was born.  Yeah, she's now going on forty-seven years old.  I'm sure if she reads this, she'll say, "Thanks Mom, for telling the whole world how old I will be in two months."  Oh well all I can say is:  "It is a wonderful memory for me!"

It's now been two weeks since a very close friend of our passed away.  I can't tell you how much my husband and I both miss him.  Things have been hard for his wife and young son, but I know that given time, they will both be okay.  Does one ever get over the death of a loved one?  I believe the answer to that question is "no", but time does heal all sorrows.

I finished proof reading my newest novel for the first time.  Now I need to start the second reading to see if I can catch any other mistakes, both in spelling and grammatically.  Using the spell check and grammar check helps, but not all the time.

My poor husband has been working so very hard for the past two weeks.  He's covering for one of the sons who has been on vacation.  We are both so very glad that starting Monday, perhaps things will go back to the way they were.  He's only to be working about 16 hours per week.

Here's the cover to my new novel.  The young man on the cover is one of my Grandsons and another of them, took the photo shoot.  I'm so proud of all six of my Grandsons.

Celebration!

Hi all,

Today we celebrate the life of my special friend who passed away last week.  He was only 47 years old and he had cancer in five organs within his body.  He fought a long and hard battle, but in the end, he lost the fight.  It was very hard seeing him suffering during the last four to five months.

He was a wonderful husband, a great dad and a very special friend.  All of those things were so easy to see once you got to know him.  His life may have been short but he was truly blessed.  He will be missed greatly by his wife and son, as well as, family and friends.

The campground is hosting his celebration of life today and right now it's been raining for some time.  It was going to be held by the pond, but now I'm not so sure.  The large grassy spot over there has many areas where, after a rain, remain soggy.  It may be transferred to the pavilion instead.

It's also very humid outside today.  That being said, I ask God to help me to be able to remain out of doors this afternoon.  Because of my chronic congestive heart disease, when the humidity is very high, I can't breathe.  My chest tightens up and I have an extremely hard time with each breath.  If that happens, I will have to return to the air conditioning.  I ask God to help me be able to stay outside until the service is over.  But, I will do what is best for my health, as I simply have to put my health first.

I hope you have a good weekend and a safe one!  May God bless each and every one of you.

God's beauty is all around us, we just need to look up into the sky to witness it!

How's your Monday going?

Hi all,

How's your first work day of the week going?  Mine is going okay, but I've been a bit 'out of it' for the last few days.  I suppose it's because I lost a very close friend last Thursday.  I am happy that he's not in any more pain and is not suffering anymore, but I still miss him.  It saddens me that I'll never be able to see his face again or sit down and have a conversation with him.  But, I am glad that he's in a better place now.

I've been working on my hand embroidery work ever since the beginning of the year.  I love to sit in front of the television and hand embroider.  I am still working on my summer bedspread.  I have all thirty of the squares made and I now have six of them embroidered with a blanket stitch to the spread.  As I've said before, I will definitely have it completed by next summer, which is okay with me.  I'm also working on hand embroidering designs on kitchen towels and matching dish rags.  I'm also embroidering their last name onto the towels and dish rags.  I like to stay busy.

I did manage to get the best part of an hour in today on the proof reading of my manuscript.  It's going slowly but I'm not really in any big hurry to have it published.  I'm trying to remember that all things happen in God's time, not mine.

What are all of you up to this week?  I hope you are putting some time aside to do something creative.  As I've said before, creativity comes in many forms.  Such as:  the permanent campers in a campground are preparing all of the food for my friend's memorial service this week.  That takes creativity, especially since they have no idea how many people will show up.  I'm just glad I am not the one in charge of that endeavor!

Well, today's blog will be a short one, as I have a few more things to do yet today.  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and had some fun, too!  Please stay safe and put all your troubles in God's hands.  He can and will handle them better than you!

Today is a sad day!

Hi all,

Today is a very sad day for my husband and I.  Our friend passed away today.  I've shared some information about him over the past year and a half.  He died early this morning and now he's with God.  That makes me very happy because he's no longer suffering and in pain.

It's been very hard for his wife and young son, but with God's help, I know they will be able to move on with their lives.  It won't be easy for either of them, but they will get there eventually.

I can't even imagine how hard it is for this man's parents, also.  Just the thought of one of my daughters dying, upsets me so much.  It just doesn't seem right, but things happen in God's plan, not ours.

Both my husband and I will do everything that we can to help our friend and her son to move ahead with their lives.  She has a lot of decisions to make, but she doesn't have to make all of them at the present time.

I am asking each of you, to please remember this 43 year old woman and her ten year old son, in your prayers.  I truly believe in the power of prayer.  So, thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers.

How's your Monday going thus far?

Hi everyone,
Well Monday will soon be over here in South Central Pa.  It's been very humid here all day, so of course, I've been indoors all day in the air conditioning.  How about you?  I hear that we're to have some storms on most of the days this week.  That usually means hot and humid weather.

I've shared with you all in the past that one of our friends has cancer.  Well, he isn't doing well and they believe he is coming to the end of his life.  My husband and I care very much for this man, his wife and his young son.  It's very hard to watch a man in his forties dying from cancer.  It almost seems unfair to me, sometimes, since I am still living at sixty seven years of age.  Even though I've been chronically ill for over nine years now.

I am asking any of you out there, who have faith in God, to please say a prayer for this family.  I believe so much in the power of prayer.  I know that this man is a good and loving man and that God will take good care of him upon his death.  I also know that his wife and ten year old son will have a hard time getting on with their lives, but with God's help, they will do just that.  So, I thank you for your prayers.

We recently had to purchase a new central air conditioning unit for our home.  We got a good deal and it's working very well.  I am very thankful for that fact, as I can't stay in our home during the summer months without the air conditioning.  The humidity causes me to not be able to breath and my chest tightens up.  So, it would mean I would have to go to a hotel to stay until we would have air once again.

I am finished with my manuscript and have started doing the proof reading.  I have to read each work out loud in order to actually see each word and every letter.  That's very hard for me to do, but it's going pretty good thus far.  I will have to do the proofing at least two times to make sure I catch any mistakes in the script.  I am very anxious to have this one published because it is a bit different type of manuscript for my novels.  It concerns a twenty year old cold case regarding an eight year old girl.

What have you been up to lately?  Have you been doing anything creative?  I hope you have.  It's one way of giving you self esteem and we all need that.  Make a fancy dessert for dinner tomorrow evening.  Your family will love it and it will give you a chance to use your creative abilities.  For you men who don't cook, how about going out in the yard and weeding your flower beds so they look spectacular.  That's also creative and your wife will love you for doing it.  There are so many ways of doing something creative.  Just think outside of the box!

I hope your Monday was a good one and if it wasn't, say a prayer for a better day for tomorrow.  Be safe and may God bless each one of you.

Here's a photograph of my geranium which I brough indoors last fall and just left it on our sunporch.  I cut it way back and it just came back beautifully.  It now has three blooms on it and I am just going to let it on the sunporch because I'm afraid that it won't do so well if I put it outside.
