Happy Thursday!

Hi all,

How's your week going?  If the answer is, "not so good," just keep in mind that tomorrow is Friday and the last work day of the week for most of you.  That is something to be grateful for, don't you think so?

My mind tonight is on my youngest Grandson, who just turned 17 years old.  He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow at Hershey Children's Hospital.  He has what is known as a 'concave breast bone'.  That simply means that his breast bone has grown inward at it's center.   It has already started causing him problems breathing and will continue to get worse if something isn't done.

What the surgery consists of is the specialist will implant two steel rods, which are curved, into his chest, right behind the breast bone.  They will go in on both sides of his body to do the implantation.  The doctor informed my daughter that this is one of the most painful surgeries during the recovery period, that there is.  The reason they are are doing it now, is because he will be recuperating most of the summer.  That way he will be able to return to school in September in good health.  These rods will remain inside of him for a two year period.  At that time, they will be removed and the problem should have corrected itself.

I am asking for prayers for him from anyone out there who believes in the power of prayer, like I do.  My daughter is a single Mom and this is also very hard on her, as I'm sure you can understand.  So, please include her in your prayers, as well.  Thank you so much!

It seems like when it rains, it pours!  My oldest daughter is now having some health problems as well.  I understand that she has been in bed for the past two days.  She is having trouble with vertigo, at least that's what they told her it was at the ER.  Still, I worry because vertigo must be caused by some other illness.  Please keep her in your prayers, as well.

I am just finishing up my Christmas table runner.  I have about another hour on it, then I'll post a picture for you to see.  I've enjoyed very much creating it.  Now, the question will be, what do I do next?

Of course, I am still working on my memoirs.  It's going pretty good, but not as fast as I would like it to go.  I believe I am at about page 58.  I'm moving slow, but steady.  I'm getting anxious to see it to fruition.

Well, my husband played in a golf tournament all day yesterday and then he and his boss headed out to play a round about 2:30 this afternoon.  Needless to say, he's not home as of yet.  That lets me home by myself quite a bit, but I'm so glad he gets to do something that he truly loves.   He works so hard at his job.  It's supposed to be a part-time job, but it usually is more than that.  Don't get me wrong, I love the company where he's working.  (Actually, he works from home.  Rarely does he have to go into the office.)  They've been very good to him and he's given them one hundred percent.
I'm sure that makes both of them feel good.

Right now I'm listening to Solid Gold Oldies on my television.  I love sitting with those old tunes playing in the background.  It just takes me back to a time in my life that was so simple and uncluttered.  (Perhaps I didn't think so at the time, though.)  They are now playing a song entitled, "Traces" by The Classics IV.  This was popular in 1966.  I was just turning 18 years old that year.  Man, that was a life time ago and it makes me feel so old.  Probably because I am old.  Do you remember that tune, or perhaps you remember this one, "I Dig Rock and Roll Music", by Peter, Paul and Mary, from 1967?

I've listened to Rock and Roll music ever since I was about eight years old.  I lived for American Bandstand every day after school.   My sister, Carol, and I were glued to the television set.  We knew all the kids on AB by name and who was dating whom.  I lived for my music and dancing back in those days.  Those two things made me so happy.  Perhaps you remember Conway Twitty and his song, "Lonely Blue Boy" from 1960?  Oh, come on, I know surely some of you remember my beloved music.

Well, I suppose I'll close this for now.  Enjoy your evening and stay safe always.
Susan
