Divine Mercy Daily

With True Feeling

Meditation:

Although I was ill, I made up my mind to make a Holy Hour today as usual. During that hour, I saw the Lord Jesus being scourged at the pillar. In the midst of this frightful torture, Jesus was praying. After a while, He said to me, There are few souls who contemplate My Passion with true feeling; I give great graces to souls who meditate devoutly on My Passion (Diary, 737).

My Prayer Response:

Lord Jesus, may I meditate devoutly on Your Passion. May I contemplate Your Passion with true feeling. May the graces that I receive by meditating on Your Passion be dispensed to hardened sinners who are most in need of Your mercy.

Just thought I'd let you all know that a great way to meditate on Jesus's passion is by saying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, daily.
On the first decade of your rosary, imagine Pilot telling the people that they had to choose between Jesus and Barabbas, as to who would be set free and who would be sentenced to death.  When they chose Barabbas to be set free, even though he'd committed murder, Pilot asked them, :"What should we do with this man, named Jesus?"  They all shouted, "Crucify him, crucify him!"  Pilot knew it was wrong, so he washed his hands of the whole thing and told them that His death would be on their hands.
On the second decade recall how Jesus was scourged at the pillar.  The men whipped Him over and over as the crowd shouted, "Whip him again, whip him again."  Jesus's hands were chained to the pillar, but he could no longer stand up so He was hanging by His hands as the whipping continued and His pain and sorrow got much worse.
On the third decade recall how the soldiers had to unchain His hands and pull Him to His feet.  They then put His robe back on Him and threatened to crucify Him right there, if He didn't stand up and carry that cross to Calvary.  The very cross on which He'd suffer and die upon.  After falling three times, Jesus could not longer carry the cross and the soldiers finally realized that, so they made Simon carry the cross and Jesus had to walk behind him.
On the fourth decade recall how upon arriving at Calvary, finally, Jesus fell down upon the cross and embraced it, because He knew He had to suffer and die on that cross, that was His Father's wishes.  The soldiers made Him get up, they then ripped His robe off of Him, causing His wounds to re-open and start bleeding once again.  When the crowd saw this, they started to clap and cheer.  They hated Jesus so very much and only wanted Him dead!  He then was told to lay on His back and put His arms out on the cross bar.  He couldn't keep them out, so two men came and pulled His arms so hard apart, that the pain was excruciating to Jesus.  After tying ropes around His arms and feet in order to attach them to the cross, they came with big spike nails and mallets and slammed the nails, over and over, in through His arms and feet.  Can you even try to imagine how much pain Jesus was in in during those moments?
On the fifth decade recall how Jesus was hanging upon that cross, with His dear Mother at his feet.  The pain she must have felt for her own Son, must have been unbearable.  Then the afternoon suddenly turns very dark and the soldiers become afraid, so they push the crowd back and have one of their men approached Jesus, with his sword on a pole and he pushes it into Jesus's heart and lungs, knowing that this will cause Him to die quickly, which is what they wanted.  As the blood and water gushes forth from Jesus, the crowd cheers because they hate him and they just want Him dead.  Of course, we know that the blood and water coming from Jesus is the mercy and compassion He is offering us, always.  Soon after this, Jesus asks His Father to, "forgive them because they know not what they do!"  As Jesus knows He's dying, He once again addresses His Father saying, "Not My will but Thine be done!"  He then takes His last breath and dies on that cross to give us eternal life with Him in heaven.
I hope this will help you to receive Mercy and Compassion every single day by not only saying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, but by also reliving Jesus' crucifixion and death on the cross.
Susan
